What’s Going On In Lassen California?

What’s Happening in Lassen County?

Lassen County is abundantly rich in natural settings with year-round recreational
activities. Lassen County enjoys a clean natural environment with excellent
air quality. Its rural communities are ideal for raising families with less
crime, traffic, and lower cost of living.

Lassen County is an outdoor paradise, where the beautiful Sierra Nevada and
Cascade mountains meet the desert of the Great Basin. Because of the unique
terrain, there’s something here for everyone. The climate is nearly ideal:
generally dry, warm days and cool nights, with an average summer high of 89
degrees and daytime temperatures in the 40’s during the winter months.

County Profile!

Forested plateaus, green mountain meadows, snow-capped peaks and a vast, open
agricultural valley are part of Lassen County’s 4,547 square miles, an area
the size of Connecticut. A true outdoor wonderland, much of Lassen County is
part of the large volcanic plateau that makes up much of northeast California.

Local Hot Spots

The Lassen National Forest lies at the heart of one of the most fascinating
areas of California, called the Crossroads. Here the granite of the Sierra Nevada,
the lava of the Cascades and the Modoc Plateau, and the sagebrush of the Great
Basin meet and blend. Nestled within Lassen’s peaceful forests and untouched
wilderness, is the Lassen Volcanic National Park, with it’s hissing fumaroles
and boiling mud pots still shaping and changing the land.
More than 48,000 patrons attend the Lassen County Fair each year which is held
the third week of July. The Fair is the longest-running community event in Lassen
County. There is also an annual parade sponsored by the Lassen County Chamber
of Commerce that is held during the Saturday of fair week. Local businesses
and organizations drive down main street displaying their floats.
